Description

Rich, spiced pumpkin bread pudding with a creamy custard base is the ultimate cozy dessert. Perfect for fall gatherings or holiday feasts!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread Pudding:

  • 5 cups cubed day-old bread (French or brioche works best)
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup pumpkin purée
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Topping (Optional):

  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
  • A drizzle of caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
    • Place the bread cubes in the dish evenly.
  2. Make the Custard:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, pumpkin purée, brown sugar, eggs, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Combine and Bake:
    • Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, pressing gently to ensure the bread soaks up the liquid.
    • Let sit for 10 minutes.
    • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  4. Serve:
    • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Add toppings like whipped cream or caramel sauce for extra decadence.

Notes

  • For added texture, mix in a handful of chopped pecans or raisins before baking.
  • This dessert can also be served cold and reheated as needed.
