Description

Brown sugar bubble tea is a delightful fusion of rich caramel flavors and chewy tapioca pearls, creating a comforting drink that warms the heart. This homemade version captures the essence of café-style bubble tea, allowing you to enjoy it anytime. With its visually stunning layers and customizable options, this sweet beverage is perfect for any occasion, from cozy nights in to lively gatherings with friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup tapioca pearls
  • ½ cup brown sugar (dark for richer flavor)
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • ½ cup water (for syrup)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a pot over medium heat. Add tapioca pearls and cook according to package instructions until soft and chewy, stirring occasionally.
  2. In a separate saucepan, combine ½ cup water and ½ cup brown sugar over low heat to create the syrup, stirring until dissolved (3-5 minutes).
  3. Drain cooked tapioca pearls and rinse briefly under cold water to stop cooking. Mix with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar syrup.
  4. In a tall glass, layer cooked tapioca pearls at the bottom and add ice cubes. Pour in milk until three-quarters full.
  5. Drizzle additional brown sugar syrup on top for visual appeal, stir gently, and enjoy with a thick straw.
