Ingredients
2 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
½ teaspoon Salt
¾ cup Whole Milk
2 large Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Vegetable Oil – for deep frying (enough to fill your pot with about 2–3 inches of oil)
Powdered Sugar – for generous dusting (about ½ to 1 cup, or just go wild )
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Combine with the dry ingredients and stir gently until just mixed.
- Lightly knead the dough on a floured surface 3-4 times; roll out to ¼ inch thick and cut into 2-inch squares.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 360°F (182°C). Fry the beignet squares in batches until golden brown on each side (about 1-2 minutes).
- Drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
