  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups pickle chips (dill or bread-and-butter)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut)

Instructions

  1. Drain pickle chips thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with seasoned flour (flour, paprika, garlic powder), another with buttermilk, and the last with a mix of flour and cornmeal.
  3. Dip each pickle in the seasoned flour, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat in the flour-cornmeal mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry pickles in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
