  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crisp iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced
  • ½ medium red onion, sliced
  • ½ cup dill pickles, sliced
  • Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with salt and pepper. Shape into four patties about 1 inch thick.
  2. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates if grilling.
  3. Cook patties for about 4 minutes on one side; flip to cook for another 3 minutes.
  4. Add cheese slices on top of each patty after flipping to melt.
  5. Toast buns cut-side down on the grill until golden brown (about 1 minute).
