- 1 lb Italian sausage (spicy or sweet)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 fresh sage leaves, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a large baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and chopped sage to the skillet; sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Layer the bottom of the baking dish with butternut squash slices, followed by the sausage mixture, dollops of ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan. Repeat layers until ingredients are used.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; remove foil for the last 15 minutes to achieve a golden top.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
