  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup toasted pecans (chopped)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, and salt until well combined.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat; let cool slightly before adding to dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in eggs one at a time into the butter mixture, followed by vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in chopped pecans, reserving some for topping if desired.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until edges pull away from sides. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
