Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • Sea salt flakes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
  3. Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  4. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan using a spatula.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until edges are golden brown. A toothpick should come out with slightly moist crumbs.
  7. While still warm, sprinkle sea salt flakes on top. Cool completely before lifting out and cutting into bars.
