- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (for gravy)
- 2 cups whole milk (for gravy)
Instructions
- Slice the beef round steak into half-inch thick portions and tenderize with a meat mallet. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Soak the steak pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Set up a dredging station with seasoned flour in one dish. Coat each marinated steak in flour and shake off excess.

- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in leftover flour from dredging until golden brown. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth and thickened; season as desired.
