Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep by chopping the onion and mincing the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the onion until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned (approximately 7 minutes).
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  5. Pour in red wine to deglaze the pan; let everything simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
  6. Serve over cooked pasta with Parmesan cheese.
