  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then gently fold in chopped dates.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for about 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown but centers remain soft.
  8. For the sauce, combine heavy cream, brown sugar, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until melted and smooth.
  9. Drizzle warm toffee sauce over cookies before serving.
