Ingredients

For the Margarita
  • 1 cup fresh pomegranate juice Use freshly juiced pomegranates for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup tequila Choose a good quality blanco tequila.
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur Cointreau or Triple Sec works well.
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice Freshly squeezed for optimal taste.
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup Adjust sweetness to taste.
For Garnish
  • 1 lime lime wedge For rimming the glass.
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt For rimming the glass.
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds For garnish.

Method

Prepare the Glass
  1. Rub the rim of each glass with a lime wedge to moisten it. This helps the salt adhere better.
  2. Dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt to coat it evenly. This adds flavor and a nice presentation.
Mix the Margarita
  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the fresh pomegranate juice, tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and secure the lid. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This chills the mixture and combines the flavors.
  3. Using a strainer, pour the mixture into the prepared glasses filled with ice. This ensures a smooth pour without any pulp or ice shards.
Garnish and Serve
  1. Garnish each drink with a few pomegranate seeds for a pop of color and added texture.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Pomegranate Margarita!

Notes

For a sweeter drink, adjust the amount of simple syrup to your taste. You can also substitute the simple syrup with agave nectar for a more natural sweetener.
