Ingredients

For the Sausage and Vegetables
  • 1 lb Italian sausage sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 lb baby potatoes halved or quartered if large
  • 8 oz green beans trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for cooking
  • 1 tsp garlic powder for flavor
  • 1 tsp onion powder for flavor
  • 1 tsp dried thyme for flavor
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper to taste

Method

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Slice the Italian sausage into 1/2-inch pieces. This allows for even cooking and better flavor distribution.
  2. Halve or quarter the baby potatoes depending on their size. Smaller pieces cook faster and absorb flavors better.
  3. Trim the ends of the green beans and cut them into 2-inch pieces for uniform cooking.
Cook the Sausage
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. This helps to prevent sticking and allows for even cooking.
  2. Add the sliced sausage to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Browning the sausage adds depth of flavor.
Add the Potatoes
  1. Add the halved potatoes to the skillet with the sausage. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the potatoes to absorb the flavors from the sausage.
  2. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper over the mixture. Stir well to ensure even seasoning.
Incorporate the Green Beans
  1. Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet. Stir to combine with the sausage and potatoes.
  2. Cover the skillet and cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the green beans are bright and tender-crisp. Covering the skillet helps to steam the green beans for optimal texture.
Serve
  1. Remove from heat and let sit for a couple of minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy your hearty meal!
