Description

Harissa Meatballs deliver a burst of North African flavor, combining juicy ground meat with a spicy harissa sauce that’s perfect for cozy dinners or festive gatherings. These meatballs are easy to prepare and can be served over fluffy couscous or nestled in warm pita bread, making them an irresistible dish that will impress family and friends alike.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp harissa paste (adjust for spice level)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, parsley, egg, harissa paste, and garlic until combined.
  3. Roll mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, simmer crushed tomatoes and lemon juice for about 10 minutes.
  6. Add cooked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes before serving.
