Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup raw apple cider vinegar Choose unfiltered and organic for best results.
  • 1 medium onion Finely chopped.
  • 10 cloves garlic Crushed or minced.
  • 1 piece fresh ginger Grated or minced, about 2-3 inches long.
  • 1 piece fresh horseradish Grated, about 2-3 inches long.
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric root Grated, or use 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric.
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper Adjust to taste for spiciness.
  • 1 cup honey Raw honey is preferred for its health benefits.
  • 1 cup water Filtered water for dilution.

Method

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Start by preparing all your ingredients. Finely chop the onion, crush the garlic, and grate the ginger and horseradish. This step is crucial as it releases the beneficial compounds in these ingredients.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped onion, crushed garlic, grated ginger, grated horseradish, grated turmeric root, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to ensure even distribution of flavors.
Combine with Vinegar
  1. Transfer the mixture into a quart-sized glass jar. Pour in the raw apple cider vinegar until the jar is nearly full, leaving some space at the top.
  2. Seal the jar tightly with a lid. This will prevent any vinegar from evaporating and maintain the potency of the ingredients.
Infusion Process
  1. Shake the jar gently to mix the ingredients. Place the jar in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks. Shake it daily to help the infusion process.
  2. During this time, the flavors and health benefits from the ingredients will be extracted into the vinegar.
Strain and Sweeten
  1. After 2-4 weeks, use a strainer or cheesecloth to strain the mixture into a clean jar or bottle. This will separate the solids from the liquid.
  2. Add honey to the strained liquid, stirring well until fully dissolved. The honey not only sweetens the fire cider but also adds its own health benefits.
Store and Serve
  1. Transfer the final mixture into a clean bottle using a funnel for easy pouring. Seal tightly and store in the refrigerator.
  2. Fire cider can be consumed straight, diluted in water, or used as a salad dressing. Enjoy it daily for a health boost!
